Abstract
El sueño es esencial para la supervivencia humana, sin embargo, los problemas para lograr un sueño reparador y constante son un problema común. Uno de cada tres adultos no alcanza la cantidad recomendada de sueño, lo que a menudo conduce a una gran variedad de problemas, desde enfermedades físicas hasta trastornos mentales y cognitivos, absentismo laboral e interrupciones frecuentes en la vida diaria. Las experiencias traumáticas que ocurren temprano en la vida pueden tener implicaciones para la salud de por vida, incluidos los trastornos del sueño y la falta de sueño. Con la llegada de la COVID-19, las personas en los Estados Unidos y en todo el mundo se vieron obligadas a ponerse en cuarentena, alterando así los patrones de comportamiento previamente establecidos, el compromiso diario con los demás y los hábitos de sueño regulados. Ser capaz de rejuvenecer el estado físico, emocional y mental a través del sueño se volvió más importante pero también más difícil en medio del estrés de la pandemia. Los profesionales de la salud están buscando opciones alternativas para los tratamientos de los pacientes en relación con el logro de patrones de sueño saludables. La inclusión de la música puede ser una opción que contribuya a este problema actual porque es de fácil acceso y puede personalizarse según los gustos individuales. Es rentable, económico y evita el riesgo de efectos secundarios graves. El enfoque de este artículo es explicar cómo la música puede afectar el sueño y ofrecer sugerencias que optimicen los patrones de sueño a través de la aplicación consciente de la música y la musicoterapia.
