본 연구에서는 자유 즉흥 연주 기법을 활용하는 소그룹 음악 치료의 세 가지 주요 치료 이점을 제시하고 논의한다. 자유 즉흥 연주 방법을 구성하고 활용하는 세부 방법에 대해 제시한다. 세 가지 주요 이점인 감정 표현, 몸과 마음의 통합, 사회 기술 발달에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 본 연구는 이러한 이점들을 다루는 것을 통해 환자의 정신 건강 및 행동 개선에 긍정적 도움을 제공하고자 한다.
