참전 용사 및 군인의 트라우마 및 외상 후 스트레스 장애를 치료하는 음악치료 중재는 최근 몇 년 동안 문헌들을 통해 주목되고 있다. 본 논문의 목적은 참전 용사와 군인들의 광범위하고 복잡한 필요를 가장 적절히 충족할 수 있는 트라우마와 외상 후 스트레스 장애 치료로 활용된 주요 음악치료중재기법을 탐구하는 것이다. 이 고유한 치료 대상군에게 양질의 치료 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 음악치료기준을 지속적으로 개발하기 위해, 임상적 근거 및 이론적 토대를 탐구하였다. 본 연구에서는 세 가지 연구문제를 제시하였다. 본 연구문제는 트라우마 치료를 위한 음악치료기법을 알리고 입증하는 데 필요한 이론적 기반 마련의 중요성을 강조하고 있으며, 치료효과 및 신뢰도를 확보하기 위해 실행되었다. 연구문제는 다음과 같다. 

(a) 참전 용사와 군인 대상의 트라우마 및 외상 후 스트레스 장애를 치료하는 데 활용된 주요 음악 치료 중재기법은 무엇인가? 

(b) 선별된 음악 치료 중재기법을 적용하기 위한 근거 또는 이유가 제시되어있는가? 

(c) 음악 이론, 치료, 음악 치료/트라우마 등을 포함하여 해당 치료대상군에게 사용된 음악 치료 중재기법의 근거를 밝힐 이론을 발견했는가?

Kristen Stewart, MA, LCAT, MT-BC, SEP, NMT holds two post-graduate certifications in trauma treatment, has worked to develop a new model of treatment for trauma prevention in preterm infants(PATTERNS), and has evolved her music therapy practicethrough her work in medical, educational, mental health andresidential contexts. She is currently working with veterans in theVA – Hudson Valley Healthcare System.
