2019년 치매인구는 세계적으로 약 5천만명 가량으로 집계된다. 치매 환자의 삶의 질 및 증상을 개선할 수 있는 치료 및 중재방법은 절실히 필요하다. 양로원과 같은 장기 간호 환경에서의 음악 개입 효과에 대한 근거는 보고되고 있으나, 급성 상황과 관련한 세팅에서의 임상 연구는 미흡한 실정이다. 치매와 관련된 가장 어려운 증상 사례들을 집중적으로 다룬 급성 상황 개입을 위한 효과적인 중재 방법에 대한 근거를 구축하는 것이 중요하다. 본 체계적 고찰연구에서는 급성 상황에서 치매 환자들을 위한 중재 방법의 하나로 음악을 활용한 문헌들을 살펴보고자 한다. 데이터베이스 조사에서는 204개의 논문을 확인하였고, 그 중 기준에 부합하는 10개의 논문을 분석하였다. 연구의 질 평가 체계를 적용하였으며, 대다수의 연구들은 높은 점수(80%이상)를 기록하였다. 분석을 통해 음악 중재가 급성 상황에서 치매 환자의 증상 개선을 위해 활용된 4가지 영역을 도출하였다(기분과 안녕감, 행동 및 심리적인 치매 증상, 입원환자를 위한 자원 활용) 가장 신뢰할 수 있는 결과는 기분과 행동 영역으로 보고되었으며, 이것은 현재 입원 환자들에게 음악 중재를 실시한 후 나타난 긍정적 변화를 반영한다. 본 연구에서는 후속 연구를 위한 제언, 한계점, 임상적 의의 등에 대해 논의한다.
