意識障害が長引く患者の学際的評価と治療の一環としての音楽療法介入の有効性の調査, O'Connor et al.

アイルランドのリハビリテーション病院における4年間の研究に、29名の患者が参加し、2名の音楽療法士が長期意識障害(PDOC)の学際的チーム(IDT)の主要な役割として作業を行った。本研究は、PDOCの患者とその家族に対するIDTの評価と治療の一環として、音楽療法の影響を調査したものである。 PDOCとは、壊滅的な脳損傷後4週間以上持続する応答性と意識の低下または欠如、として定義されている。症例、意識障害の認識のための音楽療法評価ツール(MATADOC)、患者の家族とIDTメンバーからの質問票、およびビデオ分析を組み込んだ混合法アプローチが実施された。臨床研究の側面を説明し、研究の質問の結果を導くために、3つの症例が概説されている。研究結果として、音楽療法がIDTを強化し、家族にプラスの影響を与える可能性があることを示唆している。この研究によって開発された音楽療法の評価と治療経路を組み込んだ恒久的なPDOC音楽療法サービスが、病院に設立されたのである。
