본 연구는 치매 환자들의 공통된 필요 및 치료적 필요에 대한 음악치료 임상과 음악기반 접근법을 통해 해결할 수 있는 방법에 대해 다루고 있다. 본 연구는 각기 다른 치매 유형, 두뇌 활동 및 기능 등을 설명할 것이다. 이는 음악에 대한 치매 환자들의 반응 차이와 관련이 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 음악이 행동에 영향을 미치는 방식과 음악에 대한 반응성(responsiveness)을 선행문헌들을 통해 살펴볼 것이다. 이러한 연구결과들이 음악 치료 실행과 관련하여 갖는 함축적 의의도 제공할 것이다.
